My name is Jeanne

Too sensitive for superficiality,
too cheerful for melancholy, too genuine for facades. I feel much more than I can explain, but I laugh more often than I worry.

I am not a coach, a therapist, or a guru. I don’t fit into any one category. But if I had to choose one, I’d prefer to call myself a Companion.

What do I mean by that?

A companion is someone who walks alongside you for a while. Not to change you, guide you, or tell you what to do. But to be by your side, right where you are. With attention, genuine interest, and without judgment.

When I think of Jeanne, I think of a truly wonderful person—someone who can put things into perspective, doesn’t judge, is a good listener, has a knack for capturing the essence of a situation, can make even the biggest fears seem small, and is there for you—or at least tries to be. Someone who respects boundaries—both yours and her own—and who can have a good laugh or, better yet, knows when not to take things too seriously. Entrepreneurial, but also someone who can pause: literally and figuratively.

Sometimes you meet someone who doesn’t so much do something as make something possible. Jeanne van Deborah Compane is such a person, not only for my father but also for my husband, both of whom needed long-term care. In their final years, she was a gentle constant, someone who comforted them and made them laugh again. She was the light simply by being there, and in this way she brought many rays of hope.
